Zet Cargile - Genie U Learning Coach
Zet’s passion for teaching focuses on resourcing parents and teachers in the development and practice of project learning though thematic units. Her approach integrates different subjects and intelligences, the arts, varied skill proficiencies, individual learning styles and creative problem solving techniques, within the framework of a theme/concept/topic which is meaningful and relevant to a child's life experience (present or pending). Through this approach, Zet aspires to help parents and educators help their children develop a strong and healthy self-concept, the passion and resources to be life-long learners and a sense of global responsibility through multicultural and environmental understanding.
With over 15 years of teaching experience, Zet Cargile began working with children and families, through the national service organization, “Teach for America.” Assigned to inner-city Houston, Texas, she worked with a diverse population of gifted and talented students in Houston's Vanguard Program. Since then, her teaching has extended to all general subjects in a public elementary setting, alternative middle and high school setting, and at home with her own children in addition to specializing in the development of curriculum to encourage Spanish as a second language.
A graduate of the University of Virginia, Zet presently lives in Charlottesville, Virginia, and works as a private tutor in addition to serving as a Learning Coach for the Genius Center.
